• Calories and the mechanism of its application in a workshop in Asharqia Chamber

    On Monday, April​​ 29,​​​ 2018, Asharqia Chamber, in cooperation with the Saudi Food and Drug Authority, and as part of the efforts of the Hospitality and Entertainment Committee and its activities plan for 2018, will hold a workshop on (Calculation of calories and their application mechanism), at the headquarter of the Chamber at 10 am.

    The workshop, aimed at introducing the owners of restaurants, cafes, food establishments and those interested in food in general to the initiative of the Authority to list the calories and the mechanism of calculating the lists of meals in restaurants and cafes.

     

    Hamad Mohammed Al-Boali, Vice Chairman of Asharqia Chamber and Chairman of the Hospitality and Entertainment Committee, the Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) is proposing a qualitative initiative to list the calories and the mechanism for calculating them in the lists of meals of restaurants and cafes. Besides, it will enable the consumer to know the number of calories in meals and beverages, which will push the sector to more competitiveness and achieving excellence.

    He pointed out that the workshop serves as an opportunity to identify the owners of restaurants and cafes in the Eastern Region on how to calculate calories and put them on the menus of food and drinks, in addition to identifying the penalties that to be applied to caloric offenders in the list of meals.
